Writing
| 6 | Absolute Write | Very large forum-based community with tons of working pros and students practicing their craft. Most of my current writing friends came from either here, or the old Done Deal site. |
| 5 | Nanowrimo | National Novel Writing Month is November! Follow my progress here, or try it yourself! |
| 3 | Two Adverbs | My favorite screenwriting site. Everyone there is dedicated to becoming the best screenwriters they can, and unlike most forum-based websites, there is a lot of upward mobility here. Almost weekly we get the story of someone whose script has advanced or won in a contest, a writer whose script finally sold, or a pro sharing his secrets. Great site. |

News
| 4 | Drudge | What can I say? I'm a sucker for instant, late-breaking news 24-48 hours before most broadcast stations get it. |
| 9 | Yahoo! Sports | This site was far better when it was lighter on graphical content. All I want is facts and figures. Yahoo!'s still a faster load and easier to navigate than ESPN, though. |

Politics
| 11 | News Busters | Conservative website that focuses on pointing out the disparity in media coverage between conservatives and liberals. |
| 10 | Real Clear Politics | Great site that compiles all the daily tracking polls. I use this regularly during the 2-3 months a year that I care about elections. |

Web Comics
| 1 | CTRL-ALT-DEL | Great webcomic about gamers and (a lot these days) the women that love them). The storyline's turned really dark recently, but the author, Tim Buckley, has made up for it by introducing his CTRL-ALT-DEL Sillies, which are almost like a daily newspaper strip, with Wii-esque characters and groan-worthy punchlines. |
| 12 | Penny Arcade | Another gamer-based web comic. I wish the comics were longer, sometimes it's an exercise in zen reading to both understand the context and then get the joke. |
| 13 | XKCD | Fantastically smart, clever, and often funny web comic. Most jokes are very math/internet centric, so your mileage may vary, but I'm in the choir he preaches to. |

Programming
| 2 | C# Station | The best C# Tutorial on the web. Better than any book I've ever seen for quickly coming up to speed on C# Programming. Probably helps if you already have a basic concept of modern OOP concepts and terms. |
