I don't like the 2010s. Maybe it's because I'm old and crotchety, and look fondly with nostalgia at my formative years. Maybe it's because the 2010s suck and the 80s didn't. I tend to think it's the latter. But if I had to nail down a very specify why I think the 80s were better, it would have to be because of one thing, and one thing only: attitude.
Saw Star Trek over the weekend. Great movie. Not great as in "this is an epochal movie that will be remembered for generations. When people look back in the history of cinema, they're going to say "Wow. I was there when that movie came out. This is important. This *means* something." It's just a movie that hits every note, runs on all cylinders, and keeps you firmly in seat, wondering what's going to come next. There is character-building, action set-pieces, chases, space battles, hand-to-hand-combat, sexy innuendo, strange aliens, exotic locations, cliffhangers, and everything you could and should expect from a summer blockbuster.
It never fails.
I had a big, elaborate plan about how I wasn't going to be here anymore. How I was going to post and post and suddenly post my way into fantabulous riches and independent wealth. And well...
That didn't work out.
You can read about it here: http://thewebsiteaweekproject.com/
Basically, I've gathered so much work for the coming months that I simply cannot also create a new website every week and remain both sane and alive. So, choosing between the three, I opted to shut the project down and bask in the glow of paying gigs.
Crazy, right?
I haven’t slept for seven days.
Seven days.
I’m supposed to write about a man that no one remembers, that no one really knew. Someone we celebrate for having helped destroy the indigenous religion of a civilization, in the name of Jesus Christ. Saint Patrick.
